NEW DELHI: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) in Karnataka has sought the cancellation of bail granted JD(S) MLA and former Karnataka minister HD Revanna in a sexual assault case. Revanna faces charges in two separate cases, one involving sexual harassment and the other related to kidnapping. He is currently out of jail on conditional bail.
The application filed by the SIT is likely to be heard on May 31.
A court on Monday had granted bail to HD Revanna. The 66-year-old politician was previously granted interim relief by the 42nd additional chief metropolitan magistrate court on May 16.
HD Revanna was granted bail until May 17, days after he secured a conditional bail in the kidnapping case linked to the ‘obscene video’ case.
HD Revanna and his son, Prajwal Revanna, are facing a probe by an SIT constituted by the Karnataka government over allegations of sexual harassment and criminal intimidation following a complaint by a woman who worked in their household.
Earlier on May 14, HD Revanna, who was arrested on charges of a kidnapping case linked to the ‘obscene video’ case, was released from Parappana Agrahara Jail after he was granted conditional bail by a special court for people’s representatives.
The judge granted conditional bail to Revanna on a Rs 5 lakh bond.
He was arrested on May 4 by SIT officials in a kidnapping case registered against him at the KR Nagar police station in the city.
