A man in his 30s has died in Liverpool Hospital of gunshot wounds, in what police suspect is a gang-related incident.

Authorities from Liverpool City Police Area Command were called to the Sydney-based hospital at around 1.20am on Saturday where an injured man had presented himself.

The injuries were consistent with gunshot wounds, and he passed away shortly after their arrival.

The man has not yet been formally identified.

Detectives from the NSW Police’s State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad are investigating the matter, which is understood to be gang-related.

Police will provide updates to the investigation when more information surfaces.

The death follows a previous unrelated shooting incident in Liverpool on Wednesday where a 49 year-old man was arrested for shooting in the area and charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and attempted robbery.

For those with information on Saturday’s incident, police urge the public to contact Liverpool Police directly or message Crimestoppers at their website or at 1800 333 000.
