NEW DELHI: Maersk, one of the world’s largest shipping companies, on Sunday said it was suspending its vessels’ passage through the Red Sea strait for 48 hours, following an attack by Yemeni rebels on one of its merchant ships.
The Maersk Hangzhou container ship reported being targeted by a missile while passing through the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
Subsequently, the vessel faced additional aggression from four Houthi ships attempting to board it.
In light of these incidents, Maersk declared a postponement of all transits through the affected area for the next 48 hours.
