JAIPUR: In the political landscape of Rajasthan, a unique candidate has emerged for the Tijara seat in the upcoming assembly election – Mahant Balak Nath Yogi.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Mahant Balak Nath Yogi is contesting against the Congress candidate Imran Khan.
Ahead of polls, the Congress party had alleged that Balak Nath purchased 32 acres of land worth Rs 52 crore at Cultus Lake in Canada.However, he termed the allegations as baseless and frivolous.
“The Congress is scared of BJP’s public support in Tijara. The party wants to divert from the issue of misgovernance and terrorism by making false allegations without any proof,” he said.
In his campaign, Balak Nath had described the Tijara contest as an ‘India-Pakistan match’, positioning himself against what he termed “Talibani” forces. The Tijara assembly constituency falls under the Alwar Lok Sabha constituency, which is presently represented by 39-year-old Nath as a Member of Parliament.
He has a huge following on social media platforms with nearly 1.5 million followers on Instagram.
Born into a Yadav family and deeply rooted in the Nath sect of Hinduism, Balak Nath is not only a political figure but also an aspirant for the chief minister’s post within the faction-ridden state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Balak Nath’s roots trace back to Alwar, where he was born on April 16, 1984, in the village of Kohrana in the Behror tehsil. Raised in a farmer family, his early initiation into sannyasa at the age of six-and-a-half led him to leave home and find solace in the ashram. His father, Subhash Yadav, served Baba Khetanath in the Baba Khetanath Ashram of Neemrana, instilling in Balak Nath a deep sense of devotion from an early age.
The tale behind the name
Given his Thursday birth, he was named Gurmukh by Baba Kheta Nath, who had earlier been prophesied to receive the child for public welfare. Gurumukh, later named Balak Nath, was entrusted to Mahant Somnath for education.
The spiritual voyage
The turning point in Balak Nath’s spiritual journey occurred when he was declared the eighth successor of Asthal Bohar on July 29, 2016, in the presence of Brahmalin Mahant Chandnath Yogi, UP CM Yogi Adityanath, Yogguru Baba Ramdev, and other prominent saints. Following the passing of Mahant Chandnath Yogi in 2017, Balak Nath assumed the responsibility of the eighth abbot of Asthal Bohar, the largest monastery of the Nath sect. Today, he serves as the abbot of the Baba Mastnath Math and holds the position of Chancellor at Baba Mastnath University, both located in Rohtak, Haryana.
