Mahindra & Mahindra has taken a major step into the EV era with the launch of its much-anticipated ‘Born Electric’ SUVs, the XEV 9e and BE 6e. Unveiled at the Mahindra Research Valley in Chennai, these SUVs are built on Mahindra’s in-house INGLO platform, a modular skateboard architecture designed exclusively for electric vehicles. The pricing for the BE 6e Pack One starts at Rs 18.90 lakh ex-showroom, while the XEV 9e Pack One will set you back by Rs 21.90, ex-showroom. Both models are set to hit the market in January 2025. Deliveries will commence from February 2025.
Mahindra BE 6e, XEV 9e: Design
The XEV 9e features a sleek, aerodynamic coupe-SUV design, with aggressive cuts and a sloping roofline. A bold triangular headlamp setup, flared wheel arches, and a full-width LED light bar give it a futuristic look. Measuring 4,789 mm in length, the XEV 9e offers 663 litres of boot space and an additional 150 litres in the front trunk.
The BE 6e leans towards a more sculpted style. Its minimalist front end, integrated inverted L-shaped DRLs, and sharp contours lend a modern and aggressive design language. It measures 4,371 mm in length, with 455 litres of boot space and a 45-litre front trunk.

Both SUVs offer two battery options: 59 kWh and 79 kWh, using LFP chemistry. The larger battery pack, as per the company, promises a real-world range of more than 500 km. These EVs support ultra-fast charging, going from 20% to 80% in just 20 minutes using a 175 kW DC charger.
The XEV 9e, built on the INGLO platform, features 59kWh and 79kWh LFP battery options, offering a claimed range of 656km (MIDC) or 533km (WLTP) and over 500km in real-world tests. Its powertrain delivers 286hp and 380Nm with the larger battery, achieving 0-100 kmph in 6.7 seconds, while the 59kWh version offers 231hp.

Similarly, the BE 6e offers 59kWh and 79kWh battery packs, with the latter delivering a WLTP range of 550km—higher than the XEV 9e. It boasts 288bhp, 380Nm, 0-100 kmph in 6.7 seconds performance figures.

The XEV 9e boasts a triple screen setup spanning 43 inches for the driver, central infotainment, and passenger use, along with Theatre Mode that syncs all screens – along with a Bring Your Own Device option available for the rear passengers. The BE 6e features a dual 12.3-inch floating screen layout. Both models include ADAS, a 360-degree camera, and a two-spoke illuminated steering wheel.
Unique features include Mahindra’s Auto-Adjusting HUD Vision, ambient lighting with 16 million colour options, and an illuminated infinity roof synced to vehicle speed.
Both models come equipped with iLink front suspension and a 5-link rear suspension, along with multiple driving modes, including a Boost Mode, and cruise control for a smoother driving experience. Connectivity is seamless with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, complemented by smart connected car features like cabin pre-cooling and scheduled charging. The infotainment system includes 4 speakers, 2 tweeters, and built-in Amazon Alexa. Additional features such as push-button start/stop, auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, and cooled console storage add to the premium feel. As for safety, the model gets all-wheel disc brakes, 6 airbags, driver drowsiness detection, an electronic parking brake, an HD reverse camera, and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System.
Besides that, Mahindra has integrated features like Driver-Initiated Lane Change Assist (DILCA), three drive modes (Range, Everyday, and Race), and AutoPark, which works both inside and outside the car. Both models will offer a lifetime battery warranty for first owners, limited to 10 years or 200,000 km for subsequent owners.
