KOZHIKODE: A man who was found eating the raw body parts of a cat at Kuttipuram bus stand has been admitted to the Kozhikode government mental hospital. Kuttipuram police said that the man hailing from Dhubri district of Assam was shifted to the mental hospital after preliminary examination at the taluk hospital indicated that he had some mental issues.
Onlookers were shocked to see a man sitting in the bus stand and eating raw cat meat and they informed police, who reached the spot and bought him food after he said he was hungry. He had told the people that he had not eaten food for the last four days.
The incident had taken place around 5pm. The man who was neatly dressed was seen taking something from a pack and eating it. The shopkeepers nearby checked what he was eating as foul smell was emanating from the pack.
Kuttipuram inspector of police P K Padmarajan said that though the person went missing from the spot on Saturday evening, he was found near Kuttipuram railway station on Sunday morning.
On inquiry, police found that the man had come to Kozhikode from Chennai where his brother was living. The brother told police that he had gone missing from there. He was later shifted to the Kozhikode mental hospital for examination.
