BENGALURU: It’s a case of not just one, but two gruesome killings under related circumstances that has left eyewitnesses shocked. A 45-year-old event manager allegedly stabbed his 25-year-old former girlfriend to death in a south Bengaluru park, following which, the victim‘s mother, 50, bludgeoned the killer to death with a hollow brick late Thursday.

The first victim, identified as Anusha, a resident of Shakambari nagar in JP Nagar, was killed inside Sarakki Park near her house, off JP Nagar, around 4.15 pm.Hours earlier, Anusha, who worked as a home attendant for elderly persons, had approached JP Nagar police and filed a complaint of harassment against one T Suresh, a resident of Goraguntepalya. Following up on the complaint, the cops summoned Suresh to the police station and got him to issue a written undertaking that he would keep away from the complainant.
‘He continued to harass girl’
Police detained Anusha’s mother Geetha, who works as a caregiver for the elderly, for questioning. They said Anusha and Suresh came to know each other while they were employed in event management.
Quoting eyewitnesses, police said Suresh and Anusha were seen having an argument at the park before he whipped out a knife and stabbed her repeatedly.
Geetha, who was standing a short distance away, rushed towards Anusha upon hearing her screams and tried to stop Suresh, though she couldn’t. She then picked up a cement brick lying nearby and hit Suresh hard. As Suresh fell, Geetha repeatedly hit him on the head, leading to his death.
Picking up the grievously injured Anusha, Geetha, with the help of a few passersby, reached a nearby hospital, where the doctors declared her brought dead. According to doctors, deep stab wounds in Anusha’s chest and stomach proved fatal.
Alerted by passersby, a Hoysala patrol vehicle soon reached the spot at the park, followed by police from JP Nagar station. The cops moved Suresh’s body to the same hospital where Anusha was taken. Anusha’s body was sent in the same ambulance for autopsy to KIMS hospital.
Police sources said Suresh, who claimed to be a bachelor, had an affair with Anusha and promised to marry her. However, last year, Anusha discovered that Suresh was married with two children. Since then, she distanced herself from him, but Suresh began harassing her.
“After hearing Anusha out, we summoned Suresh and took an undertaking from him that he would stay away from her,” the sources added. In spite of that written assurance, soon after leaving the police station, Suresh reportedly called Anusha again, requesting her to meet him at Sarakki Park “for one last time”.
“Suresh brought a knife with him and used it to stab Anusha in the chest and stomach,” a cop said.
