At least one person has been shot outside a law firm in Sydney’s CBD on Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to a building on Castlereagh Street about 12.50pm following reports of a shooting.

A man has been arrested over the incident.

A statement from NSW Police said there was no ongoing threat to the community.

“A crime scene has been established and the public are advised to avoid the area to allow emergency services access and egress,” the statement said.

“Further information will be disseminated when it becomes available.”

A member of public in the area labelled the scene as “crazy”.

“I suddenly saw so many cop cars and police running as quick as they could towards a building. Some with bullet proof vests on and then even plain clothes police. Then ambulances started arriving.”

Facebook user Mark Anthony Bray posted video of the scene to his social media.

“Something is going down big time,” he wrote.

“I’ve [never] seen that many cops.”

More to come.
