Matilda’s star Katrina Gorry has made a huge announcement on social media just a week after she was named in the Paris Olympic Squad, despite recovering from an ankle injury.
Gorry revealed she had welcomed her second child on June 9 with fiance Swedish footballer Clara Markstedt.
The post said “Our sweet baby boy” and that “big sister (Harper) was absolutely in love” with Koby Peter David who was born at 10.36am on Saturday, weighing 3.66kg and measuring 50cm in length.
“Our hearts are so full,” the post said.
Many well wishers congratulated the family on their new addition, with Matilda’s fullback writing, “Gorgeous family.”
“Stop it! Congrats guys. Sooo happy for your little fam,” wrote Caitlin Cooper.
Gorry met her fiance in Sweden when she relocated to the northern European nation to play football with Swedish club Vittsjo GIK where Markstead was a striker.
Markstead helped Gorry and her young daughter Harper find a home and the pair struck up a friendship before they went on their first date in May 2022.
In June 2023, the couple became engaged and announced they were expecting their second child in November saying they were “adding more love to their love story.”
Before Gorry left for Sweden, her former Australian club the Brisbane Roar Football Club posted a video of Gorry and her daughter Harper saying that had watched the young girl grow up over the past two seasons.
“Enjoy these clips of Harper and all her Aunties,” the post said.
“Wait for the end to see her getting ready to be a Matilda.
“We wish Katrina and Harper the best of luck over in Sweden.”
