NEW DELHI: The war of words between former England captain Michael Vaughan and ex-Pakistan batter Mohammad Hafeez refuses to die, with none leaving any opportunity to troll the other on microblogging social media platform ‘X’.
Pakistan ended their ICC World Cup 2023 campaign with a fifth defeat in nine matches, as they lost to England by 93 runs in Kolkata on Saturday.

Pakistan were bowled out for 244 while chasing England’s 337/9 to finish fifth on the points table.

Defending champions England, who had an equally miserable campaign, finished seventh.

Pakistan’s defeat provided further fuel to Vaughan to poke Hafeez again as part of their verbal duel, which began once Vaughan commented that controversies inspire Pakistan to perform better. Since then, both have been trolling each other.
On Thursday, it was Vaughan’s turn as he posted “Maybe Pakistans batters need to be a bit more selfish like Virat” and tagged Hafeez.

The reference to India’s batting icon Virat Kohli came up first in an earlier post by Hafeez where he hinted that Virat Kohli’s approach to a century against South Africa as “selfish”.
Vaughan had replied to that with a video of Kohli taking Hafeez’z wicket, which further irked the former Pakistan batter.
