BHOPAL: A minor girl delivered a baby in the toilet of female ward in the district hospital of Bhind and attempted to flee leaving the infant in a bucket when she was apprehended by hospital staff.
Hospital authorities told the media that a minor was admitted to the district hospital after she complained of stomach ache at around 8:00 pm on Thursday.Around 9:30 PM, she gave birth to a baby girl in the restroom of women’s ward. Following the delivery, she lay down on a bed, in an attempt to leave with her family, when an attendant of the ward heard the cries of the newborn emanating from the restroom.
The nursing staff went in the washroom and were shocked to find blood there and a newborn baby girl in a bucket. Hospital authorities added that the minor was apprehended by hospital staff and reunited with her newborn. The entire incident was reported to the police, who are currently conducting a probe.
The hospital staff handed over the newborn to the minor and the authorities are addressing the situation. A case is under investigation to ascertain details of the matter and take necessary action.
