NAINITAL: A case has been filed at Haldwani police station against two women employees of a child protection home, alleging serious offences including rape and Pocso (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act violations. The women have been accused of taking a 15-year-old girl out of the protection hometo a place where she was allegedly raped.A case has been registered and the police have initiated an investigation.
Child Welfare Committee member Ravindra Rautela filed a complaint, saying the accused employees, Deepa and Ganga, transported the minor to another location, where the alleged crime took place. After the complaint, the Child Welfare Committee officials, along with the police, gathered information by speaking with the minor.
The police have registered a report against the women. District magistrate Vandana Singh visited the employees and the minor in custody.
Nainital district secretary of CPI(ML) Dr Kailash Pandey emphasised the need for immediate disclosure of the identity of the accused and warned against attempts to shield them. He said, “CPI(ML) demands a thorough government disclosure, urging the CM to address the systemic issues in child protection homes. The party calls for the closure of such institutions across the state.”
