BHUBANESWAR: Unidentified miscreants allegedly opened fire on the Nandankanan Express Train in Bhadrak district on Tuesday morning.
According to sources, two rounds of gunfire were discharged, striking the window pane of a coach lavatory in the Nandankanan Express (12816) at approximately 9.30 am between the Bhadrak and Baudapur section.
The train was en route to Bhubaneswar from New Delhi. East Coast Railway officials confirmed that an enquiry into the incident commenced by the authorities. The train was checked and cleared to move at around 10.30 am, sources added.
“Railway Protection Force has been instructed to attend to the train and coordinate closely with the govt Railway Police and local police,” an official statement of East Coast Railway reads.
