NEW DELHI: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed separate chargesheets against five accused persons in two inter-related cases of Manipur violence pertaining to the disappearance and subsequent killings of two students in July.
The CBI had taken over investigation in August and their probe has revealed that the boy and the girl were intercepted and held captive by a group of men who had forcibly put the victims in a vehicle. They were taken to an undisclosed location and killed later.
The pictures of the two Manipuri students, who had gone missing on July 6, had surfaced on social media causing a furore. The photos appeared to be before and after they were killed. One of the pictures showed the two students sitting on a grassy compound while two armed men could be seen behind them. In another picture, the bodies of the two students could be seen.
“The CBI has filed two separate chargesheets in the court of chief judicial magistrate, Kamrup, Guwahati (Assam) against five accused,” a CBI spokesperson said.
