PUDUCHERRY: Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s guarantee is false while Congress‘s guarantee is pucca, party president Mallikarjun Kharge claimed on Monday.
“Has he (Modi) fulfilled his promise to recover black money stashed in foreign banks and deposit Rs 15 lakh in every Indian’s bank account? Has he fulfilled his promise to generate two crore jobs annually for 10 years? Has he fulfilled his promise to double the farmers’ income? The answer is no.When everything is no, Modi guarantee is also false,” Kharge said while addressing a public meeting in Puducherry seeking votes for Congress candidate V Vaithilingam who is contesting in the parliamentary polls here.
Kharge said Modi‘s guarantee is not to control inflation, prices of petrol and diesel and curb the soaring unemployment ratio.
“Modi and Shah (Union home minister Amit Shah) are trying to fool people. However, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry people will not believe his guarantee. Modi claims that if Modi is there, everything is possible. Then why did he fail to control inflation, create employment and double farmers’ income (in the last 10 years)?” he asked.
The Congress president charged that wherever BJP could not grab power through democratic means, the party would arm-twist elected members of the opposition parties by using the central agencies like the ED. “So far BJP has harassed or purchased 444 MLAs in the country. Whenever chief ministers, MLAs and MPs don’t yield to their pressure, the party uses governors in the respective states to harass them. This happened even in Puducherry. Likewise, Tamil Nadu governor (R N Ravi) is harassing brother Stalin (Tamil Nadu chief minister M K Stalin),” he said.
He said Modi accused him and other Congress functionaries, including Sonia Gandhi, of not attending the Ram mandir consecration and said he would enter the temple if the government permits scheduled caste people to enter premises.
“BJP is creating a false image in the public that Congress is against construction and consecration of Ram temple. My name is Mallikarjun Kharge, which means an avatar of Lord Shiva,” he said.
