REWA: In a shocking case of domestic violence, a young woman from Atraila village in Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa district has been sentenced to death by the fourth additional sessions judge Padma Jatav.
The 24-year-old Kanchan Kol was convicted for brutally murdering her 50-year-old mother-in-law, Saroj Kol, by stabbing her more than 95 times with a sickle on July 12, 2022.
According to additional public prosecutor Vikas Dwivedi, the incident occurred following a domestic dispute when the victim was alone at home. After the attack, Saroj Kol’s son informed the police and rushed her to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead by the medical staff.
Valmik Kol, the victim’s husband, was initially named as a co-accused in the case for allegedly inciting Kanchan Kol to commit the crime. However, due to a lack of evidence, he was acquitted by the court.
