JAMMU: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday filed a chargesheet in a Jammu special court against the terror accused arrested in connection with the Reasi bus attack on June 9 this year.
A NIA spokesperson said the accused, Hakam Khan alias Hakim Din, had been charged under various sections of Indian Penal Code an Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
Nine people were killed and 41 injured when terrorists opened fire on a bus carrying pilgrims from Shiv Khori in Ransoo area to Katra in J&K. The driver lost control after a bullet hit him on the head, and the bus rolled into a deep gorge, leading to the tragic deaths and injuries.
NIA, which took over the investigation on the direction of the ministry of home affairs on June 17, arrested Hakim Din, a resident of Rajouri.
“Hakam had confessed to being part of the conspiracy behind the attack, which was executed by three terrorists with his active logistic support. Besides providing them with food and stay arrangements, he had helped the terrorists in identifying the attack spot,” the NIA spokesperson said.
Hakim’s interrogation pointed towards the role of two Pakistan-based LeT commanders — Saifullah alias Sajid Jutt and Abu Qatal alias Qatal Sindhi — who might have acted as the attackers’ handlers.
Investigations revealed Hakim helped the terrorists involved in the attack in conducting a recce of the area and even accompanied them. They also stayed with him on at least three occasions since June 1.
