NOIDA: Two people died, and three others were injured after a speeding BMW X4 rammed into an e-rickshaw opposite Sumitra Hospital in sector 35 on Thursday morning in Noida. Police said they have arrested two people in connection with the case.
According to police officials, the incident occurred around 6 am when five people were traveling in the e-rickshaw.
“The e-rickshaw was heading towards Noida City Centre metro station from the Sector 12-22 intersection when a speeding BMW car rammed into it from behind in front of Sumitra Hospital. Following the incident, bystanders rushed to the spot and informed the police. All five people were rushed to the hospital, where two were declared brought dead on arrival,” Manish Mishra, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Noida, said.
The deceased have been identified as Mohammad Mustafa (50) and Rashmi (25), who was a Staff Nurse at Metro Hospital in Sector 11, while the injured were found to be Rajendra (45), who was driving the rickshaw, Pawan (27), and Suraj (20).
“The three are undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Sector 110. Two people, Tushar and Adi, both in their early 20s, residents of Sector 41 who were traveling in the BMW, have been arrested from the spot, while one person fled from the spot,” Mishra said.
An FIR in the matter has been registered at the Sector 24 police station under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. The absconding accused has been identified as Aman Sisodia, a resident of Sector 41.
The bodies have been sent for an autopsy, and their family members have been informed. Further investigation is underway.
