NEW DELHI: A randomisation software will now decide who will assess a medical college and when. New guidelines issued by the National Medical Commission (NMC) for the academic year 2024-25 stated that the decision had been taken to reduce human intervention in the process.
The NMC guidelines state that no two assessors from the same college or district will be selected for assessment of a particular medical college.NMC, which is the apex body for regulating medical education , conducts regular assessment of medical colleges. Surprise inspections are also carried out periodically for the purpose of ensuring that the standard of education and training is maintained.The new NMC guidelines state that all the inspections will now be conducted on the same day. “The team of assessors will conduct assessment to examine the infrastructure, quality of medical education, faculty, Aadhaar-Enabled Biometric Attendance System data, clinical indicators and financial status of the college to ensure compliance with the latest NMC guidelines,” the Council said.
