Newcastle police are requesting assistance from the public to help track down a man who robbed a tobacconist in Wallsend two years ago.

On Friday January 21 2022 at 5:20pm in the evening, police allege a man entered a tobacconist shop on Cowper Street, Wallsend and robbed it at knifepoint.

The frightened worker handed him the money and was left uninjured as the man quickly left the store. He was reportedly last seen heading towards Ironbark Creek Bridge near Dan Rees Street.

Police have been unable to find him during their investigation and are now asking the public for help.

The man is described as being of caucasian appearance with a medium/athletic build, about 180cm in height and aged between 25-35.

At the time of the robbery, police say the man was wearing a face mask, dark cap, dark shirt and shorts.

Police are also requesting to speak with the driver of a white Nissan Navara utility with a trailer who was seen in the area around the time the robbery occured.
