CHENNAI: In an exercise meant to break ice and heed to the Supreme Court direction to sort out their issue over a cuppa, Tamil Nadu governor RN Ravi and chief minister MK Stalin discussed the affairs of the state government, including various contentious matters, during a 40-minute interaction at the Raj Bhavan on Saturday.
Indicating to the governor that his “action” was “unnecessary” and “nowhere mentioned in the Constitution”, Stalin urged him to recall the 10 bills that he had reserved for the consideration of the President and give his quick assent.
The 10 bills that were readopted by the state legislature empower the state government to appoint the vice-chancellors of state-run universities.
Governor Ravi reiterated “his total commitment to the good of the people of Tamil Nadu and assured his continuing support to the state government within the bounds of the Constitution of India”.
“The CM urged the governor to act as per the provisions of the Constitution. Only then will the governor’s actions be beneficial to the welfare of the people of the state and the administration,” a government release said.
