NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated a series of development initiatives in Jammu totaling over Rs 32,000 crore. PM Modi inaugurated various projects encompassing areas including health, education, transportation, petroleum, and civic infrastructure at the Maulana Azad Stadium.
PM Modi also presented appointment letters to approximately 1500 newly recruited government employees from Jammu and Kashmir.Additionally he also engaged with beneficiaries of several government schemes as part of the ‘Viksit Bharat Viksit Jammu’ program.
PM Modi flagged off the first electric train in the valley and also the train service between Sangaldan station & Baramulla station. The PM also officially inaugurated the IIT Jammu complex. The academic complex has 52 labs, 104 faculty offices and 27 lecture halls. The campus has hostel facilities for around 1,450 students. More than 1,400 students have been registered in various programmes currently.
PM Modi also inaugurated 20 new buildings for Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) and 13 new Navodaya Vidyalayas (NVs) across the country. These newly constructed KVs and NVs buildings will play an important role in meeting the educational needs of students across the country.

- There was a time when schools were burnt, today schools are being decorated. Today, health facilities are improving rapidly in Jammu and Kashmir. Before 2014, there were 4 medical colleges in Jammu and Kashmir, now there are 12 medical colleges.
