Bengaluru police are yet to make any headway in their probe into the blast at a cafe here on Friday that left nine people injured even as chief minister Siddaramaiah said he was “confident” the culprit will be netted in the next two days.
The alleged bomber’s images, sliced from CCTV footage from in and around Rameshwaram Cafe and from a bus on which he had travelled to the eatery, are the closest sleuths have got so far in tracking down the perpetrator.
Multiple investigative agencies, including Intelligence Bureau, Research and Analysis Wing, National Investigation Agency, are probing the case, the chief minister said after a meeting with senior police officers.
Deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar said links, if any, were being explored between Friday’s blast and a pressure cooker blast in Mangaluru in Nov 2022. “The low-intensity bomb seems to have been prepared locally. There are similarities in terms of the components used (in the Rameshwaram cafe blast) and the Mangaluru blast,” Shivakumar said.
CCTV footage of the alleged bomber walking into the cafe, sporting a beard and spectacles, along with a cap and a mask, was made public to generate more clues.
Bengaluru police commissioner B Dayananda denied reports that more than half-a-dozen people had been questioned and three detained.
