NEW DELHI: Qatar court accepted India’s appeal to study the death sentence handed down to eight-ex Indian Navy personnels it had arrested last year, the Times Now reported.
The Qatar court had announced the death penalty for these Indians on October 26.
The MEA had expressed shock over the verdict and had assured that the government was exploring all legal options.
In 2022, the authorities in Qatar detained eight retired Indian Navy soldiers working for a defense services provider company.
Since then, they have been held in solitary confinement without the Qatari authorities explaining the basis for their detention to the men’s families.

Captain Navtej Singh Gill, Captain Birendra Kumar Verma, Captain Saurabh Vasisht, Commander Amit Nagpal, Commander Purnendu Tiwari, Commander Sugunakar Pakala, Commander Sanjeev Gupta, and Sailor Ragesh were arrested in Doha.
