Thailand eyes India to boost tourism recovery after waiving visa for China

The Southeast Asian nation may consider other measures to boost Indian tourist arrivals, such as offering tax exemptions on jewelry imported for Indian weddings held in Thailand, a popular destination for such ceremonies, he said. As Indian tourists can already easily obtain Thai visas, a waiver of this requirement may not be necessary.

The roadshows featured presentations, interactive discussions and networking opportunities over the two days. Additionally, Qatar Tourism held two specialised sideline events on wedding planning to grow Qatar’s global position as a getaway destination for luxury weddings.

According to the tourism board, Qatar is gearing up for an active social calendar in the months ahead. Notable among these events are the Formula 1® Qatar Airways Qatar Grand Prix 2023™ that is scheduled to take place from October 6 to October 8 and the annual Qatar MotoGP, to be held from November 7 to November 19 for the 2023 World Championship.

Additionally, Qatar will host the prestigious Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS) for the first time from October 5 to October 14, 2023, the tourism board informed.

As a destination, Qatar has been ranked as one of the safest countries in the world and welcomes nationalities from over 100 countries visa-free while others can easily apply for a visa using the online Hayya platform. This short-haul destination falls within 3.5 hours of travel time from India and has something to offer to everyone be it families, solo travellers, groups of friends, or even romantic getaways.
