Prospective homebuyers have the opportunity to buy a two bedroom beach house for a fifth of an average house price in Brisbane.

The water-view home is located at 84 Empress Cl in the coastal town of Cungulla in Far North Queensland, about 46km from Townsville, or a 15-hour drive from Brisbane.

The agent says the property has only been owned by one family since it was built in the 1950s, and offers “extensive sea and parkland views,” and access to unlimited fishing.

“Fishermen take note,” the agent said.

“This hut is situated in the popular village of Cungulla where fishing for barra (barramundi), crabs and flathead is an everyday reality.”

It also offers a small living, kitchen area, a bathroom and an outdoor laundry area, plus space to “house a huge shed for your boat”.

While photos from the listing show that areas of the home appear to be in disrepair, including rusting on the external walls and unlined walls.

According to the latest data from Core Logic published in January, the median value of all dwellings in Brisbane is $787,217, with the median value for a house rising to $875,991.

Currently there are six homes available for sale in Cungulla, with the average sale price of $279,000.
