GHAZIABAD: A 23-year-old hotel management student was allegedly stabbed with a screwdriver by three men in a scuffle that erupted over an argument two days ago in Tronica City’s Naseeb Vihar in the early hours of Tuesday.
Jeetendra Kumar, a resident of Tronica City, was returning home with his friend Gautam from a Ramlila fair in the vicinity when they ran into Golu, Karan and Vicky around 1.30am.
Loni ACP Rajneesh Upadhyay said Jeetendra knew the three, who also lived in the same area, and had an argument with them just two days ago. Jeetendra had also warned them of consequences if he ran into them.
“The accused saw Jeetendra and Gautam, and attacked them, triggering a fight. After a few minutes, one of the accused stabbed Jeetendra with a screwdriver and fled the spot. Gautam informed cops and his family members,” the ACP said.
Jeetendra was rushed to a hospital in Delhi, where he succumbed to his injuries. An autopsy was carried out and the report is awaited.
Gautam also suffered a fracture to his right arm and minor injuries.
Police said an FIR was registered against the three at the Tronica City police station and they were detained for questioning.
“The three were booked under IPC sections 302 (punishment for murder). They are being questioned,” Upadhyay said.
