Amongst a series of other key projects in Rajasthan, the newly developed tourist facilities at Nathdwara, funded by the Ministry of Tourism under the Swadesh Darshan scheme‘s Krishna circuit was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 2, 2023.
The centerpiece of this development is the Interpretation Centre, aimed at providing insights into the life of Shrinathji (Lord Krishna) and Shri Vallabhacharyaji, the revered devotee and founder of Pushtimarg. At this state-of-the-art centre, visitors will be given glimpses into aspects of Shrinathji’s existence, from his journey from Goverdhan to Nathdwara to his worship, appearances, festivals, and related customs, all presented through high-quality graphics and visual media.
Apart from the Interpretation Centre, the Nathdwara project also includes infrastructural enhancements such as parking facilities, landscaping, last-mile connectivity, and more, all aimed at elevating the overall experience of tourists and pilgrims visiting this sacred destination, according to the Tourism Ministry.
A sum of INR 23.59 crore for the development of tourism facilities at Nathdwara was allocated by the Ministry of Tourism, with the ‘tourism interpretation cum cultural centre’ being the highlight, accounting for INR 13.43 crore of the budget.
He highlighted the significance of the Sawanliya Seth Ji Temple in Chittorgarh, dedicated to Lord Krishna, which attracts lakhs of devotees and visitors and holds special importance among the business community.
“Under the Swadesh Darshan scheme, the Government of India has invested extensively to modernise the temple, offering amenities such as water laser shows, tourist facilities, an amphitheater, and a cafeteria, all designed to enhance the convenience for pilgrims,” he informed.
Sharing a broader vision behind these developments, the PM emphasised that Nathdwara is an integral part of the tourism circuit that includes Govind Ji Mandir in Jaipur, Khatushyam Mandir in Sikar, and Nathdwara in Rajsamand. This initiative, he said, is poised to enhance Rajasthan’s tourism sector, further bolstering the state’s cultural heritage.“We have made substantial investments in modern infrastructure such as expressways, highways, and railways in Rajasthan,” stated Modi. He highlighted projects like the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, Amritsar-Jamnagar Expressway, and the recently inaugurated Udaipur-Jaipur Vande Bharat train, which are set to transform the logistics and tourism sector in the region.
In addition to the Nathdwara developments, several railway projects, including the doubling of the Chittorgarh-Neemuch Railway line and the electrification of the Kota-Chittorgarh Railway line were also given a green flag yesterday.
These projects, with a combined cost exceeding INR 650 crore, are expected to fortify the rail infrastructure in the region, ultimately boosting tourism to the historic sites in Rajasthan.
