LUCKNOW: As one of the first rituals related to the consecration (pran-pratistha) ceremony of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has organised ‘akshat puja’ of 1,000kg of rice to be performed before the deity on Sunday (November 5).
This rice will be mixed with turmeric and desi ghee before it is put in brass pots and handed over to 200 RSS and VHP volunteers, who will then distribute it across the country before January 22, 2024 – the date for the consecration ceremony.
More rice – around 100 quintals – will be added to it before it is distributed among the population staying in more than five lakh villages across the country. The idea behind the puja is to hold the ‘akshat’ ceremony across villages and urban areas with the same ‘akshat’ rice that has been used at the Ram Temple and spread the word about the consecration ceremony among the masses.
Other than this, more than two crore leaflets have been printed in regional languages of different states. These leaflets will be sent to every home along with ‘akshat’ rice.
The Trust will hold a drive within Ayodhya to distribute the ‘akshat’ rice among the families staying in the temple town and appeal to them to provide the same rice to their relatives, friends and acquaintances living in neighbouring districts.
