Every year, Samsung releases its Galaxy Watch smartwatch, exclusively compatible with Android smartphones. This implies that the Samsung Galaxy Watch operates solely with Samsung and other Android smartphones, lacking support for the iOS operating system. Now, it seems Samsung is poised to introduce another product that won’t be compatible with iPhones.
The South Korean tech giant recently unveiled its first Galaxy Smart Ring at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.The company has also confirmed that it will launch the smart ring in the second half of the year. A recent online report revealed that Samsung may launch the Galaxy Smart Ring in July at the company’s next Galaxy Unpacked event.
Now ahead of the launch, Samsung has confirmed some more details about the yet to launch Galaxy Smart Ring. According to CNET, Samsung revealed that the Galaxy Ring can seamlessly integrate with the Galaxy Watch, allowing them to exchange metrics based on their individual strengths or merge their data for enhanced outcomes. This functionality appears highly practical.
The company also added that Samsung is working on ensuring that the Galaxy Smart Ring works with both Samsung and non-Samsung smartphones. However, it appears that iPhone owners may not have a similar option. Hon Pak of Samsung expressed the company’s desire for the Ring to be compelling enough to entice users to switch, stating, “We ultimately hope that our devices are of such caliber that people will be willing to switch.”
According to The Verge, the Samsung Galaxy Ring is available in sizes 5 to 13, labeled S to XL inside the band. The ring contains a compact battery ranging from 14.5mAh in the smallest size to 21.5mAh in the largest. Pak also disclosed that the Samsung Galaxy Ring will provide 5 to 9 days of battery life on a single charge.
