NEW DELHI: In a major development in the Shah Rukh Khan threat and extortion case, the Bandra police received a three-day transit remand of accused Faizan Khan till November 15.
Mumbai police on Tuesday arrested Faizan Khan, a resident of Chhattisgarh’s capital Raipur, and will taken to Mumbai for further probe, according to ANI.
Faizan’s advocate, Virat Verma told TOI that he was preparing a legal defence document and Faizan was being produced in Raipur court.
“Faizan had been getting threat calls of dire consequences for past few days and despite that we had lodged a complaint, police took no action. There’s a lot more in the case, which I will reveal in sometime,” advocate Verma said.
A team of Mumbai police was in Raipur on November 7 to summon the 42-year-old man Faizan Khan who also is an advocate, to Bandra police station.
How police solved the Shah Rukh Khan’s death threat case?
Actor Shah Rukh Khan on November 7 received a death threat over a call demanding Rs 50 lakh. After the FIR was filed, the Mumbai Police reportedly traced the call to Chhattisgarh’s Raipur. Teams from the Mumbai Police have since left for Chhattisgarh to further investigate the case.
While there was no confirmation from Mumbai police on reports that the call was made from Raipur in Chhattisgarh, a Raipur police official said Mumbai police are giving notice to one Faiyaz Khan for threatening Shah Rukh Khan.
CSP Civil Lines Ajay Kumar stated, “Today Mumbai Police came to Pandri Police Station where they informed that a crime had been registered in Bandra Police Station where Shah Rukh Khan was threatened and money was demanded. Mumbai Police gave a notice to the accused. No information has been received about his arrest yet.”
He further elaborated, “The person’s name has been identified as Mohammad Faizan Khan, he is an advocate. The call was made to Bandra Police Station on November 5th. He (Faizan Khan) had complained that his phone was lost on November 2nd. We will investigate and Mumbai Police is investigating too.”
However, after police revealed the threat call was made from Faizan’s phone number, the lawyer claimed that he lost his phone last week and had filed a police complaint, PTI reported.
