He was speaking at a seminar on agriculture in Satara district’s Lonand town on Friday.
“Some people are talking about my age. They should not worry about my age. I can still defeat them at this age too,” he said.
The veteran politician said that he will rebuild the party. “I have decided to visit every part of the state to gather the younger generation. We will provide strength and decision-making authority to young leaders who will change the face of the state. They will create history,” Pawar told the gathering.
He came down heavily on Ajit Pawar and the other NCP leaders who joined the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance.
Pawar said, “Some people left the ideology and took a different stand. I want to tell such leaders that power is temporary but ideology and thought are permanent. They said they are joining the ruling alliance for development, but that is not true at all.”
He added that India has adopted a parliamentary democracy and political leaders need not be in power to work for the people.
“Leaders like Atal Bihari Vajpayee spent several years in the opposition but that did not stop him from serving the country without changing his party or his ideology,” Pawar said.
