NEW DELHI: Skipper Shikhar Dhawan and Punjab Kings made a blunder first-ball of the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Tuesday when they decided not to go for a caught behind review against opener Travis Head.
The decision of not taking the DRS turned out to be a mistake as seconds later, UltraEdge confirmed the hosts went wrong with their call.
As Kagiso Rabada produced a cracking length ball first-up that jagged away from Head after pitching, there was a hint of noise as the Punjab camp went up for a subdued appeal.Keeper Jitesh Sharma looked convinced and went up straightaway but his teammates remained unsure.
With the on-field umpire uninterested in the appeal, Rabada, Dhawan, Jitesh and the rest of Punjab players decided not to go for the review.
However, UltraEdge then showed on the big screen that there was a faint edge involved off Head’s bat before the ball got to the keeper, proving the umpire and the hosts both made an error.

Fortunately for Punjab, the wrong call didn’t hurt them much as Head fell after scoring 21 in the fourth over with Arshdeep Singh bagging his wicket.
Riding on Nitish Reddy power-packed 64 and contributions from lower middle-order batters, SRH got to a solid 182 for 9.
