NEW DELHI: Following the encroachment drive in Uttarakhand on Thursday, violence broke out in Banbhoolpura, Haldwani. In view of the the violence, District magistrate, Nainital has imposed curfew in Banbhoolpura and a shoot at sight has been issued to deal with the rioters.
Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami also called a high level meeting and reviewed the situation with Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, Director General of Police Abhinav Kumar and other senior officials at the Chief Minister’s residence on Thursday evening.
The Chief Minister has appealed to the local people to maintain peace and has given instructions to take strict action against the unruly elements. He stressed that peace and order should be ensured in the area by taking strict action against the culprits of this incident and gave clear instructions that no one should be allowed to play with law and order in the state. Administrative officers continued their efforts to maintain law and order in the area.
The District Magistrate informed the Chief Minister over telephone that curfew has been imposed in the disturbed area of Vanbhulpura and to maintain normalcy, orders have been given to shoot the rioters at sight.
