More details are pouring in about the American-Canadian star Mathew Perry’ last days and hours leading up to his death. The US Justice authorities in their latest revelation said Perry suffered an “adverse medical reaction” to a ketamine dose, so much so the actor was unable to move or speak following that.
The adverse reaction happened just 16 days before his death, according to news agency AP.
In fact, it is also reported that the actor in the last hours before his death demanded that he got shot with a “big doze” of ketamine.
The FRIENDS star was ruled dead in the hot tub of his Los Angeles home on October 28, with his cause of death believed to be “acute effects of ketamine” in drug and drowning-related accident.
Prosecutors alleged defendant Salvador Plasencia injected the 54-year-old with “a large dose” at request of the Perry’s live-in assistant Kenneth Iwamasa, who has also been charged in the case, after the actor had already undergone ketamine infusion therapy from a doctor’s office.
The US DOJ said that the at-home ketamine caused a “significant spike” to Perry’s blood pressure, making him “freeze”, resulting in inability to “speak or move.”
‘Shoot me up with a big one’
On the morning of October 28, Perry’s assistant administered a shot of ketamine to the actor around 8 30 am. By afternoon, Perry had reportedly demanded to give him another injection, while he watched a movie. Perry had requested that, allegedly telling Iwamasa, “Shoot me up with a big one,” Fox News said citing the plea agreement given to his assistant.
The assistant then left the home to run errands for Perry and when he returned home, the assistant found Perry “face down” in the Jacuzzi, deceased, the report said.
However, the assistant Iwamasa has pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine causing death.
“We allege each of the defendants played a key role in his death by falsely prescribing, selling, or injecting the ketamine that caused Matthew Perry’s tragic death,” Anne Milgram of the US drug enforcement administration was quoted as saying in an August 15 statement.
Jasveen Sangha, a resident of California has also been charged with supplying ketamine that led to the death of Matthew Perry, New York Times reported. Known by the name, “Ketamine Queen”, she called herself a “celebrity drug dealer” with “high-quality goods”. Prosecutors allege that Sangha, who has dual British and American citizenship, was a key figure in a drug distribution network that supplied the powerful sedative to Perry and others.
