LUCKNOW: Pushpa Verma, wife of UP BJP MLA Sitaram Verma, disappeared from her residence in Ghazipur on Tuesday morning.
The MLA’s son, retired lieutenant colonel Pankaj Kumar, filed a missing complaint in Ghazipur police station. Six police teams have been formed to search her.
Deputy commissioner of police, north zone, Qasim Abidi, said that the Lambhua MLA has a house in Ghazipur Sector 8, where his wife lives with her family.
“Around 6am on Tuesday morning, Pushpa left the house without telling anything to anyone. When she could not be found even after extensive searches, Pankaj Kumar informed his father. Sitaram, then, reached Lucknow from Sultanpur and tried to search all possible places, but failed to do so. Later, Pankaj lodged a missing complaint at Ghazipur police station,” said Abidi.
DCP said all the CCTVs are being scanned to track the 65-year-old’s last location, while her photo has been distributed in all the nearby areas.
Police sources said that Pushpa may suffer from amnesia.
