JAIPUR: A six-year-old girl was allegedly raped by an unidentified person at a wedding function organised at a hotel in Dausa district on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday. She was moved to JK Lon Hospital in Jaipur for specialised treatment, and her condition is stable, said police.
The minor had gone to attend the wedding function being held at the hotel and the adjoining garden with her parents on Thursday night.Amidst the bustling celebrations, she was allegedly raped by an unidentified person there.
Shortly after midnight, her parents found her in distress and also noticed injuries on her body. They alerted Dausa police, and an FIR was quickly registered at the women’s police station there.
“Ten teams have been assigned tasks to track down the suspect in the crime,” said Dausa SP Vandita Rana to TOI. Jaipur range IGP Umesh Chander Dutta also reached Dausa and met senior officials on Friday to take stock of the situation. He also met the girl’s parents and doctors at the hospital and said her condition was stable.
Police said a team of doctors is monitoring the girl’s condition and carrying out treatment. A team of forensic experts visited the crime scene and combed for evidence. Police said they were scrutinising all the people who attended the wedding, and the staff of the hotel and the garden to zero in on potential suspects.
Senior BJP leader Rajendra Rathore strongly condemned the incident. He also reached JK Lon hospital and met the minor’s family.
A police official said, “Investigation is being done from every possible angle. Our teams are making all possible efforts to identify the accused by examining footage of CCTV cameras and checking guests who attended the wedding and the hotel staff. The accused will be arrested soon.” Different teams of police personnel have been dispatched in search of the suspect, he added.
