Starburst Fruit Chews have returned to Australia for a short time as a UK import, with a heftier price to match.

Relegated off shelves in June 2022, the chewy sweet was discontinued due to strains on its manufacturing supply chain and a rising cost of production.

A Woolworths representative said the 127g bag of Starburst Fruit Chews would now retail for $5.

“We know some customers have missed having their favourite Starburst Fruit Chews,” the spokesperson said.

“That’s why, for a limited time, we’re bringing in the UK-manufactured version.

“Customers should check online to see availability in their local store.”

The lollies come in apple, orange, blackcurrant, strawberry, lime and lemon.

The confectionery is made with fruit juice but contains artificial flavours.

It is distributed by Mars-Wrigley. It is also the manufacturer of M & Ms, Maltesers, Skittles and Snickers.
