SURAT: A 32-year-old diamond worker was extorted of around Rs 6 lakh after he went nude on a WhatsApp call! This, he did, after getting a friendship request from one Puja Sharma on his Facebook page on August 13.
After accepting her request, the victim and Sharma started talking after they exchanged phone numbers.
Sharma made a video call after she lured him with an offer to get naked.He bit into her trick and when he could pay no more, he finally approached the Surat Cybercrime Police.
According to the case details, Sharma was naked when she asked him to go to bathroom and get nude too. However, once he went nude, she disconnected the call.
After sometime, the victim got his video with Sharma from an unknown number. Soon, he got another call from a person who asked for money.
On August 14, a person in police uniform called the victim over a video call and identified himself as ‘DSP’ Sunil Dubey. He asked the victim to talk to fake YouTube official Sanjay Singaniya, who sought money from him if for deleting his video.
Giving in to his demands, he transferred Rs 5.65 lakh in different transactions. As he continued to get threatened for more money, he finally contacted the cyber helpline who booked all accused under IPC 384, 170, 171, 507, 120 B and relevant sections of IT Act.
