GURGAON: A 13-year-old-student jumped off the second floor of his school building in Palwal allegedly due to fear of his teachers earlier in September. An FIR was registered against the school principal, class teacher and physical education instructor on the basis of the complaint filed by his father on Saturday.
The boy’s family alleged that the Class 8 student attempted to commit suicide due to fear after his teachers beat him up for not coming to school. He suffered serious injuries on both his hands, one leg and his head after his fall.
The student was severely injured and underwent treatment at a local hospital in Mandkaula village.
According to the boy’s father, the complainant in the case, the child had been absent from school from September 14 to 17. The father alleged that his son had collapsed on school premises at the time and was diagnosed with typhoid. The boy, therefore, took sick leaves.
When the boy returned to school on September 18, the father said, his class in-charge questioned him on his absence. She allegedly refused to believe that he had been unwell and instead accused him of lying. Then, she brought the boy to the physical education instructor, who allegedly thrashed the boy.
The boy’s nine-year-old sister, who attends the same school and witnessed the boy being thrashed, told their father that her brother went to the school’s second floor and jumped in an attempt to commit suicide out of fear of the teachers.
The boy’s father approached the local police outpost to submit a written complaint against the class teacher who intimidated him, the physical education instructor who thrashed him and the principal who did not take the matter into his hands.
“The police tried to settle the case. Nevertheless, the boy’s father did not budge and requested an FIR, which was lodged on Saturday at Hathin police station against the three school staffers,” said police spokesperson Sanjay Kadian.
The boy is currently at home with casts on both hands and one leg, as well as injuries on his head and jaws, he added.
