NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a veiled attack on the opposition on Thursday, said that some people “full of negativity” wanted to create an imbalance in the country. He warned the country to safeguard itself from such people who want to lead India to anarchy and destruction.
Addressing the nations from the ramparts of Delhi’s Red fort for the 11th consecutive term on the occasion of Independence Day, PM Modi said, “We are moving forward with resolution but it is also true that there are few people who can not see the progress of India until and unless they don’t see their own.The country needs to protect itself from this handful of negative people…There are uncountable challenges both external and internal – these will only increase. I want to say to such forces that India’s development will not pose a threat to anyone….The world should not worry seeing India’s development…”

Taking a jibe at Congress, he further said, “People need to understand that a few people with a negative mindset (are) conspiring to create imbalance in country. Nepotism and casteism are harming society… we have to get rid of these from politics.”
Earlier, PM Modi and BJP attacked Congress over ‘nepotism.’
PM Modi gave a call to bring 1 lakh youth into the political system, specifically those with no history of politics in their families. The Prime Minister said this initiative was aimed at fighting the evils of nepotism and casteism
and inducting fresh blood into India’s polity.
Talking about the corruption, the Prime Minister said that India has overcome an entire regime of corruption. “There have been personalised attacks on me, but my prestige is not more important than the cause of this nation,” he added.
In his speech today the Prime Minister also said, “I want to create fear in minds of the corrupt to stop the tradition of looting the common man.”
