NEW DELHI: The Army on Monday kicked off a top-level brainstorming session to chart the future transformation of the over 11-lakh strong force into a modern, agile and self-reliant force during the ‘Amrit Kaal’, which it said was in tune with the Modi govt’s vision for ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047.
Coinciding with the two-day session, chaired by General Upendra Dwivedi and attended by GoCs-in-C of the seven commands, chief of defence staff General Anil Chauhan also interacted with senior veteran officers under ‘Shaurya Sampravah’ to harness their “rich experience and insights” in shaping the future of the Army and contributing to the nation’s growth.
The Army vision for 2047 was spelt out as: “To transform into a modern, agile, adaptive, technology-enabled, and self-reliant future-ready force, capable of deterring and winning wars in a multi-domain environment across the spectrum of operations to protect our national interests in synergy with the other services.”
The several broad goals to be pursued in next decade include theatre commands, reorganisation of Army and command HQs, development of world-class infrastructure, enhancement of multi-domain and cross-domain operational capabilities to include land, air, cyber and space.
“Gen Dwivedi exhorted all stakeholders to promote Atmanirbharta, strive to achieve self-reliance in indigenisation of equipment, platforms, and weapons, support Indian defence industries in not only developing world-class equipment but also facilitate in becoming a leading defence exporter,” an officer said.
