DEHRADUN: Union home minister Amit Shah while addressing the closing ceremony of Uttarakhand Global Investors Summit on Saturday, said, “This event is a beginning of making a state of limitless possibilities. It is my strong conviction that Uttarakhandwill set an example for the world on how a small state can progress with industries in an eco-friendly manner without disturbing the natural beauty of the area.That is whyPM Modi has said that the third decade of the 21st century will be of Uttarakhand.”
Shah added that Uttarakhand is the most peaceful and safe state in the entire country. “Uttarakhand has endless possibilities in the fields of tourism, services, MSME, logistics, customised packages, IT and Ayush,” the home minister said.He added that he had doubts when chief minister Pushkar Dhami told him the target of Rs 2 lakh crore set for the summit. “I am pleased to see that the state government signed MoUs worth Rs 3.5 lakh crore for which I congratulate the CM.”
Stressing that the investment environment in Uttarakhand was extremely conducive, Shah said, “Uttarakhand has corruption-free governance which is very important for investment.” He said that “PM Modi has taken strong steps against corruption and made it certain that development happens at the grassroot level with transparency.” Praising the PM further, the home minister said, “In the last decade, India made such progress in every field that left the world amazed. The PM has visionary leadership and the ability to deliver things to the last mile. Due to this, the whole world is looking towards India with great hope. He has given us the target that by 2047, the country should remain first in every field in the world.” He reiterated that India will achieve US$ 5 trillion economy status by 2025. “In the last 10 years, we have gone from 11th to fifth in the world economy. I would like to inform all investors that in 75 years of independent India, the country has never seen such a huge leap in the economy as we saw between 2014 and 2023. IMF has called it a bright spot in a dark zone,” he added.
‘PM & I were closely monitoring Silkyara’
Union home minister Amit Shah while addressing the closing ceremony of the Uttarakhand Global Investors Summit on Saturday, referred to the recent rescue of the 41 workers trapped inside the Silkyara tunnel, and heaped lavish praise on chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for his role in successfully conducting the operation. “Dhami ji, you gave the credit of the Silkyara rescue to the Prime Minister and other agencies, but I want to make it clear that due to your leadership efforts, all 41 trapped workers could be saved. PM and I were closely monitoring the entire rescue operation when you were doing everything including boosting the morale of the trapped workers. You executed it very well which shows your leadership,” Shah said. Earlier on Friday, while inaugurating the 2-day summit, PM Modi had also mentioned the Silkyara rescue, saying that he wanted to “congratulate everyone including the state government for the successful rescue operation.”
