A calculator sold nationally at Officeworks and other stores has been recalled over fears it could be unsafe for young children.

The Casio electronic calculator model HL-820VA does not comply with mandatory standards for products containing button/coin batteries.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s Product Safety Australia said consumers should immediately stop using the product.

“There is a risk of choking or serious injury if young children gain access to the button/coin batteries and swallow or place them inside their body,” the recall notice read.

“Consumers should stop using affected products immediately and store them out of reach of children.

“Return calculators to the place of purchase for a full refund.”

In addition to Officeworks, the calculator can also be purchased at Campion, Abacus Calculators, GNS Wholesale Stationers

and Dynamic Supplies.

The calculator has been available for purchase since June 22, 2022 until January 23 this year.
