PITHORAGARH: An earthquake of magnitude 4.0 on the Richter scale struck near Pithoragarh district in Uttarakhand on Monday, the National Center for Seismology (NCS) said.
According to the NCS, the quake occurred 48km northeast of Pithoragath at a depth of 5km.
The tremors were felt at around 9.11am.

Earlier, an earthquake of magnitude 3.2 on the Richter Scale hit Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand on October 5.
The tremors were felt around 3.49 am and the quake’s depth was recorded at 5km, the NCS said.
