CHENNAI: Actor and DMDK founder Vijayakant was a great example of friendship and deserved to be called ‘Captain,’ superstar Rajnikanth said on Friday.
Rajnikanth was speaking to reporters after paying his last respects to Vijayakant in Chennai’s Island Grounds. He said, “Vijayakant was always full of love. That is why he has so many friends who are ready to sacrifice their lives for him.”
“Though he used to get angry with his friends, politicians and even the media, nobody was angry with him because there was always a valid reason behind his anger,” he said.
He said Vijayakant was a man with extraordinary grit and determination. “I hoped that he would recover. But my confidence level came down a bit when I saw visuals of him attending the recent DMDK event. If he had been healthy, he would have been a notable force in Tamil Nadu politics and would have done a lot of good for the people,” said Rajnikanth.
He recalled how Vijayakant had helped him when he had been admitted to Ramachandra Hospital for treatment and during a Malaysia Nadigar Sangam event. “He cleared the crowd and ensured my safety,” Rajnikanth said.
