Vikrant Massey left everyone shocked as he announced on Monday morning that people will get to see his last two movies in 2025 and he’s going back home. People thought that the actor has announced his retirement at the age of 37, which created a huge stir on the internet. Many supported Vikrant’s decision, while some also criticised him. However, Massey has now steered clear about the fact that he’s not retiring and people have misread what he meant.
The ’12th Fail’ actor told News18 Showsha, “I’m not retiring… Just burned out. Need a long break. Miss home and health are also acting up… People misread it.”
For those not in the know, Vikrant’s long post had read, “Hello, The last few years and beyond have been phenomenal. I thank each and every one of you for your indelible support. But as I move forward, I realise it’s time to recalibrate and go back home. As a Husband, Father & a Son. And also as an Actor. So, coming 2025, we would meet each other for one last time. Until time deems right. Last 2 movies and many a years of memories. Thank you again. For everything and everything in between. Forever indebted.”
While his co-star of ‘The Sabarmati Report’, Raashii Khanna was left shocked, Dia Mirza commented on his post appreciating him, motivating him, by saying, “Breaks are best—you’ll be even more amazing on the other side.”
Film-maker Sanjay Gupta lauded Vikrant for having the guts to take this decision. He wrote, “In 2008 Hansal Mehta left the film industry and Mumbai. Along with his family he shifted to a small village called Malawali in Lonavala. He recalibrated, reinvented himself and in 2012 came back with SHAHID his career best and has never looked back. 1/3”
He further continued, “Do you realize the guts it takes to do that? To walk away from it all inspite of having a family to look after and the possibility of never directing again? It takes guts, resilience and an insane amount of belief in yourself. 2/3”
He added, “In a way Vikrant Massey is doing the same. In these times of competition, insecurity, jealousy, rivalry it takes guts for an actor to take break and focus on his duties as a father, a husband and a son. He should be lauded not criticized. 3/3”
