Volkswagen India has made history by setting national records with a 24-hour endurance drive at the NATRAX (National Automotive Test Tracks) in Indore. During this marathon-like event, resembling the famous Le Mans race, Volkswagen’s Virtus and Taigun models covered remarkable distances along with outstanding fuel efficiency.
The Volkswagen Virtus and Taigun’s record-breaking run at NATRAX also tested the performance, efficiency, and reliability of these models.The team of drivers, drove for the entirety of 24 hours, making only necessary stops for driver changes and refueling. Here, let’s take a look at some of the records that went straight into the India Book of Records (IBR).
Record-breaking distance
The Virtus 1.5 GT stole the spotlight by covering 4,654.48 km in just 24 hours, setting a new national record for the maximum distance covered by a sedan within that duration. This impressive feat was achieved with an average speed of nearly 194 kmph.

On the other hand, the Virtus 1.0L TSI achieved a new milestone for the maximum distance covered by a sedan within 24 hours.
Similarly, the Taigun, powered by a 115 hp, 175 Nm, 1.0-litre, three-cylinder engine, covered 4,423.82 km during the 24-hour endurance drive, thus becoming the SUV with the longest distance covered within this time frame. Besides that, the SUV achieved an impressive fuel efficiency of 29.8 km/l during the entire drive, recording the best-ever mileage by a 1.0l engine-powered car in 24h.
