Indian American lawyer and Republican Party leader Harmeet Dhillon delivered an ‘Ardas’ prayer at the Republican National Convention, with former President Donald Trump in attendance. The prayer, which is recited by Sikhs before embarking on any new endeavor, seeks God’s protection and guidance to uphold the values of humility, truth, courage, service, and justice for all.
The attorney also thanked God for the ‘Chardikala’ spirit witnessed in President Trump, which she described as “the tireless and uplifting spirit that is sustained even in the face of violent adversity, like a founding father centuries ago.”
She expressed gratitude for protecting his life and for his examples of ‘nirbhay’ (fearlessness) and ‘nirvir’ (the absence of hate) when faced with vitriol, stating that these examples of extraordinary calm inspire them.

Dhillon, who hails from a family of Sikh immigrants, expressed her gratitude for America, describing it as a “unique haven on this earth where all people are free to worship according to their faith.” She sought blessings for the country and its people, asking for wisdom as they vote in the upcoming election and for the integrity of those conducting the election.
She concluded her prayer by asking for the exaltation of God’s name, spreading happiness, blessings, and good spirit, so that everyone may prosper and enjoy the grace of peace.
The Republican National Convention began this week in Wisconsin, with delegates and officials gathering amid the aftermath of the attempt on former President Donald Trump’s life. Trump, who is set to become the GOP’s official nominee, was greeted like a hero at the convention, sporting a white bandage over his ear and receiving a standing ovation from his supporters.
