NEW DELHI: Leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Thursday joined the opposition leaders, including Priyanka Gandhi, in their protest against the central government over Gautam Adani indictment issue outside the Parliament.
Playing upon PM Modi‘s recent poll rhetoric of “ek rahenge, safe rahenge,” Rahul sported t-shirt which said “Modi Adani ek hai” and said that the prime minister can’t get the matter investigated as it would mean launching a probe upon himself.
“Modi cannot get Adani investigated because if he gets the investigation done then he himself will be investigated,” he said.
“Would you investigate yourself?” Rahul asked reporters amid protest outside Parliament by opposition leaders who are persistent in their demand for a joint parliamentary committee probe into the Adani issue.

This comes amid ongoing disruptions in the Parliament’s winter session, triggered by disagreements between the opposition and the House Speakers over discussions on various issues, including Adani, Manipur, and Sambhal, among others.
The Congress party has ramped up its criticism of both the Adani Group and the government following charges filed by the US Department of Justice. Gautam Adani, the chairman of the ports-to-energy conglomerate, along with his nephew Sagar and another key executive, are accused of orchestrating a scheme to pay $265 million in bribes to Indian officials.
The alleged bribes were intended to secure contracts for supplying solar electricity, projected to yield a $2 billion profit over 20 years. The Adani Group has firmly denied the allegations, calling them “baseless.”
